After finishing University in June 2016, I had a long, quiet period with no commission work, and the lack of motivation to pick up a paintbrush grew and grew. That was until the 1st October, 2016.
I checked my emails and excitedly found a request through my website; a client who asked if I would illustrate a card for her mother. I was happy to see that my website was worth while after being tempted to take it down due to the lack of interest. Of course, I accepted the request and my client sent me the details of the project.

The project included creating characters of my client and her mother from photographs she sent me, and eventually using them to recreate a specific scenes which are loving memories that her and her mother share. So I began bringing the two characters to life.

Using my watercolour and colour pencil techniques, outlined with a calligraphy pen to neaten and finish the images, I sent the character designs to my client, anticipating her response as I had not received feedback from my work since university.
And…She Loved Them!
She payed me for my time and asked if she could send me a specific composition sketch to work from as she wanted the scene to be as accurate as possible so it can be instantly recognized by her mother.
I began drawing out the sketch, sending the roughs to my client and receiving valuable feedback with every development until I had finished the final piece.
My client commissioned me for a further 3 cards, depicting the mother and daughter in different scenarios, personal memories.
